brad has been talking about going to six flags magic mountain for his birthday, which coincides with the mormon family fun day at the park. my suspicions about a baby are growing stronger, but it's still too early to tell so i try to avoid any implication that i want to go with him. then this text conversation happens:

brad: "[friend's name withheld] wants to go to six flags mormon family fun day with me. would you wanna come if [friend's girlfriend's name withheld] came?"
me: "how much are tickets?"
brad: "$22 instead of $60"
me: umm...i might go"
brad: "there is plenty of time to decide. [friend] just said that [friend's girlfriend] is down and that she would want to go on the big rides. would you be cool going on some of the big rides? or would it suck?"
me: "maybe. but we don't have tons of time to decide; if you want tickets you have to let bro [ward member] know asap."
brad: "ok well think about it and we will figure it out. it sucks because it would be lame for me if you didn't come but i know it would suck for you if you don't want to go on the big rides...my birthday wish is for you to come and go on the rides with us and that it be fun for you." (great. now i have to figure out a way around a birthday wish from my husband)
me: "i'll go, but i can't promise that i will go on rides."
brad: "but won't that suck for you? is there any way to compromise? i promise not to go on any ter of ter [tower of terror] type rides."
me: "i'll put it more bluntly: if i'm not pregnant, i will go on some rides."
brad: "what? do you think you are?"
me: "maybe. i'm just a few days late, but we'll see."
brad: "that would be LOCO! are you nervous? also, when did we have sex last?"

i feel a little bad that i told my husband about my suspicions of pregnancy through a text conversation, but it's the year 2010 and that is apparently how we do things now.
