our house in the middle of our street

so last saturday brad and i painted our living room a nice beige color. it looks a lot better now that there aren't patches on the wall where there were formerly holes. and it looks cleaner and brighter. and today we ripped up the carpet in the living room. i am so glad to be rid of that sick dirty green carpet. without it the room looks a lot bigger and brighter. so right now, while i am at work, brad is at home pulling all the staples out of the floor and ripping up the tacking strips that once held the carpet that is now outside on our porch. the hardwood it still intact and we may even be able to give it a good sanding and finishing and be done with it. there is only one part that gives us worries; in the corner there is a spot that looks all moldy and a little warped. we don't know how well the sanding will be able to cover that, but we will try. i am pretty excited because there isn't that much we need to do to the upstairs. i am hoping that we can get it done before the end of the semester and then we can work on the downstairs exclusively this summer. and then we won't have to worry about it being done, or embarassed about having people over.

brad sent in all his law school admissions stuff, and he should get a response from byu in about 3-4 weeks. i am pretty sure he will get in, but we aren't making any set decisions until we know. he also applied to u. of michigan (#7 in the nation), u.c. berkley, u. of u., u. of oregon and willamette (in oregon). it will be really nice if he gets into byu because then we can take a little more time on the house, i can finish school, and we won't have to relocate away from all our friends. but i won't object if he gets into michigan and wants to go there. the median starting salary for those just after graduation in $100,000 per year. yeah, i know. not bad for just out of law school. the thing is that it costs about $30,000 per year to go there, and only $7,000 to go to byu (which, by the way, is 34th in the nation). i am pretty excited to find out what happens, especially because i don't really have to worry. i am 99.5% sure he will get into byu, and there is even a chance he will get a scholarship too. but i'll let you know.
