i am at work and it is 12:38...AM. past midnight and i am all alone. so here i am, thinking about how i am going to see lemony snicket's a series of unfortunate events later in the week and how good the funeral potatoes are going to be at christmas and general things like that when the phone rings. now, this is no ordinary phone. this is silicone sam. silicone sam is a "sensaphone" which means he is a phone that sits in the switch room and monitors the conditions. if anything is wrong (for example if the power is off, or the temperature is high or there is a "high noise alert") the phone rings in our office--don't ask me why because i do not know--and then we have to call it back to make sure everything is ok. when it rings there is an automatied voice telling you what is wrong...pretty cool. anyway, because this phone is very important, the ring is REALLY loud. i'm talking you can hear it over the roar of a jet engine three feet away. you can hear this thing over a bon jovi concert. you would hear it through the end of the world. you get the idea. so here i am in the quiet office, all alone, minding my own business, when the phone rings and scares the living daylights out of me (now i only have dead daylights in me). talk about an adrenaline rush, my heart is pounding. at least i don't have to work out now, my cardio is done for the rest of the month.
