brad was in washington dc. he was flying back on the same day i was, and we were going to land at lax within an hour of each other. my flight arrived first, so i was to wait for him until his flight arrived, and then we would drive back to our apartment together. it was a perfect plan! so i arrive, and wait by the baggage claim where brad's baggage should come in. i wait, and wait some more. lots of people come by and get their bags. but not brad. so i wait some more. still no brad. finally after a few hours of waiting, i decide to call brad to see what has happened. whoops, my cell phone is out of battery. so i get on a pay phone, but i don't have any change, so i have to use my credit card to call him. he picks up, and this is how the conversation goes:
brad: hello?
kyra: brad? where are you?
brad: who is this?* (note: this is not something that any wife wants to hear when calling her husband. ever.)
kyra: what do you mean who is this? this is kyra, where are you?
brad: i'm in washington dc. oh no. are you at lax?
as it turns out, he thought that my flight was coming in on sunday, when in reality, it came in on saturday. it was a very bad night. i had been awake for about 27 hours, 14 hours of which had been spent on a plane. i was very tired and i just wanted to go to bed. and my husband was still in dc!
it worked out though. i got a hotel room somewhere that had shuttle service, and brad got on the next flight to la. he picked me up in the morning and we went home. i was mad for a while, but now we can laugh at it. it's a good story.
