hello kitty

brad and i got a little tiny kitten in april; i think it was the 26th. the neighbors had a cardboard sign in their window advertising free kittens and cats and that sent my heart a-fluttering. brad and i talked about it, researched kittens and then went to the store to buy supplies. we went over to the house with the sign and knocked for a while, and though we saw a face in the window, no one answered. i went back a while later and knocked again, and this time a girl answered. i told her i was interested in getting a kitten and she let me in. the inside of their house was stuffy and smelled like a dirty litter box. there were cats everywhere, at least fifteen, and i counted three dogs as well. i sat on their couch and started playing with the kittens to get a good feel for which one was the best while the woman sat on a piano bench and talked idly about her pets. there had been two litters: one about two months previously, and another a month after that. the month-old kittens were so adorable that i couldn't resist. i knew they might be a little young, but their meows were so small and when they played they looked like little balls of fur. i narrowed my choices down to two by checking the sex: they were the only girls and that's what i wanted. one had white fur with calico colored head and tail and although i though she was prettier, i had to pass because she didn't want to play. that left the other one: a white kitten with big orange spots.
